Florence Biennale
3rd-11th December 2005

The Biennale Internazionale dell'Arte Contemporanea - Città di Firenze is one of the main art event of the last decade.
Founded in 1997, and taking place every two years, with the ambition of a "global convocation of artists in all their numbers and diversity", the success has since been tremendous.

In 2001 the United Nations recognized the Florence Biennale as an official partner in the program Dialogue Among Nations.
In his speech Kofi Annan said that: "artists have a special role to play in the global struggle for peace. At their best, artists speak not only to people, they speak for them. Art is a weapon against ignorance and hatred and an agent of public awareness. Art opens doors for learning, understanding, and peace among people and Nations."

The fifth edition, the so-called FB05, welcomed 768 artists from 74 different countries.

Mary Brilli took part in with an ephemeral interactive installation: an Eiffel Tower, an homage to Paris, made of Clin d'œil - Délire de soi(e) books. The visitors wishing for it could get one of the book of the installation contributing to its ephemeral and interactive nature... while satisfying their own cultural interest.

The French Institute of Florence and supported Mary Brilli's presence.
